If there is one stepwell to visit, this would be it.

Dedicated to Hashat Mata, Goddess of Joy and Happiness, the Chand Baori, with over 3.500 steps is one of the most popular and attractive landmarks of Rajahstan. Over a thousand years old, it was built to contain as much water as possible. According to Wikipedia, the air at the bottom is 5-6 degrees lower than on the outside, so the well served as a gathering place for locals during periods of intense heat.
