Though looking at them from the side, these bridges don’t look so steep, when you have one ahead of you, you can't help to question your manual shifting skills in case of a traffic jam.

The first one, from the title picture is located in Matsue city, Japan and is called Ejima bridge. It was constructed like this to allow ships as large as 500 tons to pass under without problems.

United States has its horse for the race too. The Rainbow Bridge, completed in 1938. in Texas and it was built so high to allow what was at the time the tallest ship in the US Navy, the USS Patoka, passage under the bridge.
